Commentary on the Heidelberg Catechism, Volume 1 by Zacharias Ursinus
Zacharias Ursinus (1534-1583) was a sixteenth century German Protestant theologian. Immensely learned and influenced by Philipp Melanchthon, he served at the University of Heidelberg and the College of Wisdom. Ursinus was the main author of the Heidelberg Catechism, and his commentary on the catechism provides invaluable insight into its original intent and inner logic. In this first of two volumes, Ursinus provides a masterful exposition of the first 53 questions (or the first 20 Lord's Days) of the Heidelberg Catechism. This edition has been newly typeset and formatted to provide an optimal reading experience for a modern audience.
