The Language of the Nicene Creed: Nicene Theology from the New Testament To the Church Fathers And an examination of the Greek text by Dr. Brian C Bradford

The purpose of this short yet important study is to trace the biblical foundations of the theology expressed in the original Greek text of the Nicene Creed from AD 325. This will be done by first providing a brief overview of New Testament passages that are related to Nicene theology. This will provide readers with an idea of the scriptural foundations of the Creed. Sections two and three rely on the writings of select Ante-Nicene Fathers. The focus is on Creed-like terminology found in early baptismal formulas as well as a concise breakdown of the terms and phrases that came to formulate the Creed. The final section looks at the language used in the original Greek text of the Creed. This analysis provides definitions for the vocabulary found in the Creed and supplies a phonetic pronunciation of the Creed.
